Give to the Gardens

If you would like to donate to support the ongoing conservation and development of our world class gardens for the enjoyment and benefit of current and future generations, please email the Development team to find out how you can help. You can donate online or make your donation cheque/money order payable to Royal Botanic Gardens Board Victoria.

Leaving a gift in your will to the Royal Botanic Gardens Foundation is one of the most enduring ways of providing for the future of the Gardens by helping to build a secure financial base. We would be pleased to discuss your interests and any preferences you may have for the use of your bequest. If you take the generous decision to make a bequest to the Royal Botanic Gardens Foundation Victoria, you will be helping to secure the botanical, horticultural and scientific future of Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria – and your foresight will be appreciated by generations of visitors into the future. For further information please visit our Bequests page.

Seat dedication

Some people choose to dedicate a seat to celebrate an event such as a birth or wedding anniversary; others wish to pay tribute to a loved one who enjoyed spending time in our beautiful gardens. A portion of your donation is invested in the Royal Botanic Gardens Foundation to support the Gardens’ conservation and development. You can choose to dedicate a seat at Melbourne Gardens or at Cranbourne Gardens.

Support a Gardens’ project

For those wishing to make larger contributions to help develop Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria, a number of exciting projects are available for you to support. Projects range from the development of new garden features, water projects, and the restoration of heritage facilities, to plant sciences and conservation research and the curation of important collections.

Key projects that currently require your support are:

  • Sowing the seeds for Biodiversity - The Victorian Conservation Seedbank: This three year project will continue to secure, in long-term storage, and to undertake research on, seeds of threatened and otherwise significant Victorian plant species.
  • Revealing the Secrets of the 19th century - Foreign Herbarium Specimen Collection: This project aims to make electronically accessible a collection of herbarium specimens gathered during the 19th century and housed in the National Herbarium of Victoria, by mounting, databasing and imaging 300,000 specimens.
  • Victorian E-flora – the missing 1000 species - An online plant biodiversity knowledge base for the State of Victoria that enables remote identification of flora in order to enhance our capability to detect new weed incursions and identify new records of plant biodiversity in natural settings.

Tree sponsorship

Through our tree sponsorship program, you can provide regular annual support symbolised by a special tree in the Gardens.
